One official registry appointment in Portugal
Same-day Portuguese marriage certificate after registration
From around 2 months once documents are ready
Apostille and translations available separately
The Same Vibes process
Every case starts with documents. Citizenship, residence, marital status and previous marriages can all affect the route, so we review your situation before making timeline assumptions.
- 01
1. Check your case
You send us both partners’ citizenships, countries of residence, marital status, previous marriages and document availability.
- 02
2. Prepare the document route
We give you a checklist based on your case: passports, birth certificates, proof of marital capacity or alternatives, previous marriage documents, translations, apostilles or legalisations.
- 03
3. Review documents before filing
We check consistency, completeness and suitability before filing to reduce avoidable registry questions and delays.
- 04
4. File the marriage process
Our Portugal-based legal team files the marriage process with the Portuguese civil registry and communicates with the registry on your behalf.
- 05
5. Coordinate the registry appointment
Once the process is accepted and availability is confirmed, we coordinate the official appointment date.
- 06
6. Come to Portugal and register your marriage
You attend the official registry appointment, sign the required documents and register your marriage.
- 07
7. Leave with your marriage certificate
After registration, your Portuguese marriage certificate is issued. Apostille, translation or delivery can be arranged separately if needed.
How long does it take?
Timelines start from around 2 months once your documents are ready. The exact timing depends on citizenships, document availability, translations, apostilles or legalisations, registry capacity and any additional legal handling.
We do not give a serious timeline before reviewing your case.
What happens on the registration day?
You come to the civil registry appointment in Portugal. The registry official completes the formal registration, you sign the required documents and your marriage becomes official under Portuguese law. After registration, your Portuguese marriage certificate is issued.
This is an official civil registry appointment, not a symbolic ceremony or wedding event.
After the certificate
Some couples only need the Portuguese certificate. Others need an apostille, certified translation or additional document support for use abroad. We explain the route after reviewing where and how you plan to use the certificate.
What can slow things down?
missing or expired documents
inconsistent names or transliterations
previous marriages not fully documented
countries that do not issue a certificate of matrimonial capacity
documents requiring apostille, legalisation or certified translation
registry availability
additional questions from the civil registry
urgent travel constraints
Start with your documents, not with assumptions
Send us your basic case details. We will explain the route and the realistic next step.
